HRT’s clients include business associations, manufacturing companies, equipment distributors, not-for-profits, municipalities and professional services. Their accomplishments include developing effective new employee orientation systems, customized employee job training, employee handbooks and performance management tools. In addition, HRT works with companies to audit their employment law compliance. 

KARLA DOBBECK - a certified professional in Human Resource Management, founded Human Resource Techniques, Inc. in 1997. Ms. Dobbeck is the former chairwoman of the TMA HR Peer Group, past president of Stateline SHRM and Illinois Fox Valley SHRM; and the former Chairwoman the McHenry County Workforce Development Board (MCEDC). In 2012, Ms. Dobbeck served on the US TAG to the ISO TC 260 Standard Development Committee.


IRMA BUHRKE - attended DePaul University and found her passion working with people through her human resource career. She joined HRT in 2015. Irma’s HR experience spans 15 years, previously working for Family Alliance, a non-for-profit agency. Her bi-lingual skill set enables her to assist a diverse range of clientele.

Irma has assisted clients in administering their HR function, creating a variety of Spanish resources, assisting in internal investigations and training. Irma provides companies the option of having an advocate who both understands their needs and the needs of their employees. She has been a member of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) since 2016 and lives in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with her husband of 32 years.


KRISTEN RENZ, PHR - has been working in human resources for over 14 years and joined HRT in 2015. After obtaining a Master's degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Roosevelt University, she began her career as an HR Manager at Buhrke Industries in Arlington Heights, IL. Kristen was an HR department of one so during that time, she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, not only from on-the-job training, but by working on a number of HR projects.

Kristen is one of our on-site consultants who manages the HR function for a variety of clients during transitions, leaves and on an on-going basis. Kristen has been an active member of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 2008 and lives in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with her husband of 4 years and daughter.


SHARON LORENZ - has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis University and joined HRT as our Administrative Assistant in 2016. She retired from United Airlines where she held numerous Administrative and Managerial positions. Sharon keeps us organized and is our primary contact for marketing, training materials and handbook initiation.

Prior to joining HRT, Sharon worked for nine years in the Governance and Standards Department and the Finance Department for Sun City Community Association Del Webb) in Huntley. Sharon lives in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with her husband of 52 years.
